I’m Yuchen :)
As a designer
Driven by curiosity and a genuine love for design, I’ve continuously stepped outside my comfort zone—moving from my hometown Guangzhou to Umeå, and now to Aarhus, where I work as a designer.
I believe the value of a designer lies in the ability to observe, research, analyze, and make sense of complexity. We can build complex models, make fancy renders, and shoot amazing videos. But these are just extra spice. The thinking behind them is what truly matters.
I am not an “idea machine,” and I don’t always deliver instant solutions/ideas when I see a problem. Instead, I take time to understand it—connecting clues, building context, and working through it analytically before arriving at a solution.
If you ask me what good design is, I would say: it is grounded in research, shaped by understanding, centered on the user, and ultimately creates a meaningful experience.

As a life-loving person
I am passionate about design but also passionate about my life. I like trying new things! After coming to Europe I also developed my hobbies, I got into bouldering , hiking, and skiing. My favourite sport is bouldering, currently I am around V5-V6 level.
I love cooking and I am a vegetarian! I love little animals and my dream is to have a fluffy fluffy boy/girl as my family member. But before that I'm trying to get along with my boyfriend's family dog, and I think he likes me quite a bit (At least I offer him petting massages and give him little snacks). But when will my dream come true????😭😭😭
As a leather crafter
Another important part of my life is leather crafting. In my spare time, I create handmade leather products, and the process helps me slow down and find inner peace. Here are some of my handcrafts :)
And BTW! I belong to one of China's ethnic minorities - Shē
I am proud, of course. Very proud of my ethnic.
The She ethnic group is one of China’s smallest minority groups. There are about 700,000 She people only, and I am one of them.
The outfit I’m wearing in this photo is called the Phoenix Dress. The black and red are the ethnic’s representative color. The enormous crown is the phoenix’s mimicry. Hope you like it as well!
