Project Brief
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that causes thick mucus to accumulate in the lungs, leading to progressive and irreversible damage. Most patients are diagnosed at birth, and while there is no cure, daily Airway Clearance Therapy (ACT) is essential to maintain lung function.
However, adherence frequently declines during the "transition period" (from age 13 to young adulthood), when young patients assume management of their treatment, posing a risk of lung deterioration and lifelong consequences.Despite a wide range of effective medical devices for mucus clearance, this decline persists. The issue is not the lack of functional solutions—but a lack of attention to the treatment experience.
Rather than introducing another performance-driven device, the project focuses on improving adherence through user experience—rethinking how therapy fits into the emotional, social, and everyday lives of young patients.
